Leave Love for Another Day
A short poem
Just for today,
Can we pretend we’ve just met
Or have been forever friends?
On that October day
Of many Autumns, can we smell
Red and yellow, dewdrops losing their way?
Can we paint the rustling of the leaves
In the moment
In our heads?
Can we cradle the orange rain?
( Umbrellas are for fools )
Can we be? can we shout out “yeah”?
Can we strip ourselves of love,
of law,
limitations,
imitations
we’ve been fed?
Can we be Maples, Oaks, and Sassafras
Breathing with each and every cell?
Can we be, see, feel, venture
Can we save love for another day?
