Prime Minister Narendra Modi, A big name in itself.

On 26 May 2014, he was elected as the Prime Minister of India. A lot has changed since then.

His ruling party has made some big reforms for the core sectors of the country, often resulting in heated arguments, protests, and violence.

Let us keep the political agenda aside, at least for this story.

I believe every person has some superior qualities, which can be replicated, irrespective of age, position, and personality.

I look up to PM Narendra Modi for outlining my communication skills.

He has influenced me for pushing my speaking and listening skills to another level. He uses 3 tools to enhance his game and make people engage with him, effortlessly.

Which are these 3 tools? Where can I access them from? Should I go to the Himalayas and meditate? Which books should I read?

Relax!

These tools are residing inside you, you just have to find and polish them.

It’s that easy.

Breaking the Ice

The latest instance of his excellent skill of holding and moderating meaningful conversation was seen in the Fit India Dialogue 2020.

From a young female Kashmiri footballer to a cricket superstar, from a nutritionist to a yoga guru, Modi spoke to everyone effortlessly and held forth on their respective topics with enthusiasm.

The ease with which he connects with people from many walks of life is remarkable. This is a climax where everyone should stick their eyes on.

The warmth Modi displays also helps people connect easily with him.

This breaks the ice and puts people at ease and makes them open up, forgetting the fact that they are speaking to a larger than life leader.

For example, in the same Fit India Interaction, he cracked a joke with Milind Soman( actor, producer, swimmer, marathon runner) about his age and asked Virat Kohli about the yo-yo test.

The 3 Tools

With the induction of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India, he started his Man Ki Baat ( Putting out his thoughts to the general public through radio or television).

Everyone thought it would be a monthly speech by the PM.

But, Modi has made it a conversation, where he brings together the success and stories of common people.

The Calmness, Knowledge, and Constant Learning made his monthly Man Ki Baat a festival to look upon.

The conversations are always engaging. An engaging conversation is possible only when people are looking to learn from one another, with an open mind.

The ability to think that they may have something to learn from the other person is what makes them good listeners.

Modi’s journey

A leader should be sufficiently knowledgeable about different topics to hold the conversation with people of different domains. I am not talking about having a deep knowledge of every subject, but you should have a clear understanding of the fundamentals.

This ability to be a constant learner has not only helped Modi converse better with people but has also helped him in different ways.

He knows quite a lot about many topics. He has said many times that he has spent some time in most districts of India, especially before he began to hold national positions.

He is a great communicator among the people of India as being among the people has helped him gain great knowledge about India’s vastly diverse people and cultures, which one cannot get from books or newspapers.

It’s practical knowledge.

He often elevates the level of conversations with his specific questions and inputs that even the people associated with the fields expressed, that it inspired them to think deeper.

Communication skillset plays an important role in your success, irrespective of any field.

Making it large in life often includes making people believe in your dreams, ideas, and work. What’s a better way than, to first believe in their dreams, ideas, and solutions.

Be CALM, gather fundamental KNOWLEDGE of multiple fields, to hold and moderate conversations, and always be a CONSTANT LEARNER.

It doesn’t matter in which positions of top-level performing companies you are allotted, it doesn’t matter, how large you have made in life.
