Dear Writers,

As a new writer on Medium, I’d like to collaborate with like-minded tech enthusiasts to co-create content in a niche area: 3D Printing. It is a topic close to my heart.

So, welcome to the Layered Vision’s Philosophy!

I created the Layered Vision, a publication aiming to present all aspects and realities of the 3D world to its readers on Medium and beyond.

From printing figurines and painting them to evaluating the technologies underlying 3D printers, I aim to create a publication where art and technology play happily together.

There is always a place among us for writers who experience this unique journey and are happy to share it with others.

Technical Submission Guidelines

Technical guidelines refer to how articles are structured.

Image attribution

The attribution of images plays a significant role in the readability of a story. Presenting a beautifully written story with poorly or incorrectly arranged images will disadvantage readability.

You should choose and position your images to support the message you want to convey. You should ensure that your 3D print and printer photos, which you have taken yourself, are in the right position and have good lighting.

Besides, I would like to mention that royalty-free images should be used and that Unsplash images available within the Medium platform can be utilized.

Sentence and Paragraph Structure

A well-structured story has the following traits:

  • Every sentence in the paragraph relates to and supports the main idea
  • The ideas in the paragraph are logically organized and flow smoothly from one to the next
  • Transitional words or phrases are used to connect ideas and guide the reader
  • The paragraph includes a mix of sentence types and structures for variety and interest
  • The paragraph is free of unnecessary details or redundancies
  • Every detail in the paragraph is relevant to the main idea and contributes to the reader’s understanding
  • Many paragraphs end with a concluding sentence that reinforces the main idea and provides a sense of closure

The structure of the story can vary depending on the content shared.

For example, a shared cool 3D project might contain more personal comments. However, generally, paying attention to the mentioned points will enhance the quality of the content.

Grammar and Spelling

When writing our stories, paying attention to grammar and spelling rules will demonstrate the care we put into the content we create.

Applications like Grammarly can be used for support.

In the end, implementing a review process to improve our content will be to our advantage.

Content Submission Guidelines

Stories with ideas that solve real-life problems

The content we plan to share under Layered Vision encompasses a wide range. Characteristics of the stories we want to see can include personal experiences, fun projects, and technical reviews.

We cover the following topics:

3D Printing Guides

3D Printing News

3D Printer Troubleshooting

3D Projects

Reviews and Recommendations

Basics of 3D Printing

3D Printing Technologies

Art of 3D Printing

3D Design

History and Future of 3D Printing

The list can be expanded, although there are some stories we wouldn’t want to see in Layered Vision, like stories asking for guidance about 3D printing issues or stories that provide little to no value to the reader.

No AI-written stories

In this community, we plan to share people’s experiences, thoughts, and ideas. Having writers who love the 3D world and have worked in this field will elevate our community to higher levels.

Therefore, AI-generated content that does not provide value to our readers is not accepted within Layered Vision.

You may check our AI-generated content policy to learn more about it.

No duplicate content

It is very important to us that the stories you write belong to you. You can share content posted on your own site within Layered Vision. However, as we mentioned, the shared content must definitely be original and belong to you.

Cite your sources

Sharing the results of your 3D printing work and experiments with your personal experiences and comments will be the right approach.

When you want to inform about the studies and articles written in the 3D technology world, you should make sure you use your sources correctly. Here, we aim to convey information and thoughts to our readers in the most accurate way.

Story length

We do not have a specific limitation regarding content length. Every story that provides value to our readers is well-written and evokes a desire to read is welcomed under the Layered Vision.

We want to showcase the best stories in this community.

One of the biggest goals of this community is to produce the highest quality and up-to-date content on 3D printing.

We aim to appeal to a large audience, from readers who want to learn the deepest technological details of the 3D world to readers who want to see cool projects and artistic 3D works.

Our greatest duty is to effectively provide the many benefits that 3D technology, which is among today’s advanced technologies, can provide to people.
