Last Night I Collided With My High School Crush and Came Alive
This will be, an everlasting love

I couldn’t believe it. Nichelle was even more stunning than I remembered. In High School, she was tall and cute. She was so brilliant — a straight-A student — that I felt intimidated and only admired her from afar. But seeing her again last night…
She wore a dress made of a sheer orange fabric that flowed elegantly over her curves. It was low cut, showing off her ample cleavage and dark brown skin. The dress hugged her body tightly, highlighting her curves and the intricate details of the crocheted design. Her braided updo made her look regal. My eyes ate her up; Nichelle captivated me.
Our eyes locked for moments on end. My legs carried my body to her. I could not help myself. I called her name. It echoed the way I recited it over and over when I was a teenager, alone in my room, looking at her throughout our yearbooks. “Nichelle.” Forcing myself out of my daze, I smiled — willing my aura to relax.
Her name seemed to hang in mid-air and then rushed at her, seeming to ping off her beautiful face, making her blink. She whispered my name, “Casper.” I felt shock, joy, and wonder. She remembered me! I did not think that she would — didn’t know she ever saw me then.
Her eyes were wide now, never leaving my face, but her expression was unreadable. I stepped even closer to her, drawn in; I felt compelled to touch her. My hand grazed her arm, and she stepped back, out of my reach. “I was just about to leave,” she said.
“I’d love to catch up. Let me have your number,” I said.
She looked at me for a beat too long and then rattled off her Instagram handle as if she had made a quick decision. I quickly saved it into my phone. “I’ll DM you,” I said as she backed away and turned.
Nervous and elated, I watched her hurry away.
I opened up IG, connected with her, and sent a direct message.
“Let’s meet on Sunday for lunch at The Clocktower on Madison. There’ll be a reservation in my name at 12:30.”

Ilooked up but did not see her anymore. Looking at my phone again, I see it was 11:58 PM. I set an alarm with the Cosmic ringtone, to remind myself to make the reservation.
I thought, “I’ll be with you soon, Nichelle.” Every cell in my body felt alive!
