Know Truth From the Inside Out

Recently, a friend asked me, “Do you have a guru?”
I hesitated for a moment and then answered.
“No. Never had one. I find my truth beyond the machinations of a brilliant mind, the glow of the hero’s halo, or any other external authority.
I experience a knowing through a solid but subtle voice within, through the still prompting of Spirit.
I’m even starting to dial up angels!”
Here’s how.
Ask for What You Need
Discovering an ever-ready source of wisdom waiting to help seems a heavy lift for most of us.
We would rather Google something or seek out an authoritative answer person.
But help is on its way quicker than any Amazon delivery. Right to the door of your heart.
In James 1: 5–6, we read.
If you lack wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be provided to you.
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
Trust Your Inner Teacher
“The Master Observes the world
But trusts his inner vision
He allows things to come and go
He prefers what is within to what is out” — Tao Te Ching
My heart is my final stop on the path to all things spiritual.
Not that I commit intellectual suicide by neglecting cogito ergo sum.
But I also rely on that inner source of wisdom; call it spirit, Presence, Soul, or whatever.
My left brain dances with my right brain and does not step on toes.
The source of truth is all part of the universal ocean of consciousness. Such connectivity with everything boggles the mind.
Does the flutter of the wings of butterfly in the Amazon jungle really influence weather patterns in Florida?
Or does the poet John Donne capture the truth of consciousness connectivity in
No man is an island, Entire of itself, Every man is a piece of the continent, A part of the main?
And what is the carrier mechanism of this interdependence?
It comes through our GPS (God’s Positioning System)
So how do we get there?
Find Your Angel
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Hebrews 12:1
Lately, I’ve been getting in touch with angels, part of my cloud of witnesses.
I know some of you are skeptical about these seemingly mythical entities. Yes, they came in droves to Bible characters like Abraham and Mary, the mother of Christ.
However, today there are numerous examples of angel encounters.
I’ve been reading Talking with Angels by Gitta Mallasz.
It’s the story of how angels communicated with three Jews and one Christian while the dark cloud of a Nazi occupation loomed over Hungary in 1943. These divine messengers prepared them for the work that lay ahead: death in a concentration camp and the rescue of hundreds of Jews from inevitable deaths.
In my meditation practice, I’ve learned that it’s possible to encounter angels (and the rest of the gang in the spirit realm, like departed loved ones and ancestors) in a state of higher consciousness.
The connectivity works when,
We reach up to them. They come down to us.
In one of my trance-like states, I asked the archangel Ariel to come to me with wisdom for my growth and the common good.
By the way, she is the patron of New Beginnings, and that’s precisely what I need right now.
At first, all I saw on the screen of my mind was a dark surface.
But choosing to believe she was right there, I asked for evidence of her presence. (They love to give us signs — call it serendipity).
The key is to let them take the lead and not have a stereotype of how they should appear. I did not, for instance, expect to hear the flutter of angel wings.
A blue/magenta light slowly broke through like the sun coming through dark storm clouds. That sign was confirmed when I Googled “What aura is displayed by the archangel Ariel?”
The answer was blue/magenta.
That’s not a scientific proof of her presence, but it is the burden of proof sufficient for a court of law. Also, I did not know Ariel’s aura color before my web search.
I then heard her voice in my head. Not a literal voice, but she telepathically communicated
“Each day is a new beginning” (Live one day at a time)
“Retain beginner’s mind” (Stay open with wonder to new information)
“Don’t despise small beginnings.” ( Hit a home run, but don’t try to hit it out of the park or don’t discount the small stuff).
Direct, mysterious meetings with the Divine can always happen.
These heart-based and spirit-directed sources of knowing come from the eternal world that swirls around us and is closer than our breath.
And there a lots of unemployed bored angels waiting for our call.
I am starting to believe the world beyond my five senses.
These ‘beings’ are in the world of all knowing.
They are infinite Wikipedias far superior to any earthly genius, guru, or self-proclaimed expert. They are my source of wisdom.
My imperative is to believe them and be willing to act according to their direction.
Show Gratitude
Thankfulness greases the wheels of a revelation.
After every heart-to-heart contact, I show my gratitude to whoever came through, be it an angel, my mother, a departed dog, or just the beauty of our river in the bright morning sunshine.
It makes access to my heart, the world of spirit, and a day filled with wisdom more likely.
In this way, I don’t need a guru, some outside authority, or dogma to tell me what to do or how to live my life.
My journey inward is the prelude to the outward quest.
So go ahead and listen to that still small inner voice remembering the words of Dag Hammarskjöld,
“The more faithfully you listen to the voice within you, the better you will hear what sounds outside.”
