A poem — Kites, Freedom, and Happiness plus “Fear”
Small kites, big kites, dragon kites, turtle kites, flying teddybear, flying alien, flying octopus, yet not just flying objects, but flying dreams, flying colors, flying hopes, flying happiness, flying emotions.
Toddlers laughing, kids playing and running, mama-papa happy, a young couple happy, an old couple happy, no matter, where they come from, where their journey is to, how they made it here, what their story is, what their skin color is.
But I suddenly remember, the tragic Christmas attack, the death of 12 innocent souls, where their fault was, just an existence, being in the “wrong” place in “wrong” time, wait what? since when is Christmas wrong time? the Christmas market wrong place? I scream, I panic, My heart feels like a racing heart, My eyes only searching for my wife, they better take my freedom, not hers.
Flying kites, provide me the faith, whispers the sense to me, if I scream, if I panic, they win, terrorizing my freedom, but that’s just the opposite, the flying teddybear, is telling me, enjoy your life, enjoy your freedom, they may harm you, they may fool you, they may enrage you, But, the flying turtle says, FREEDOM IS YOU.
