Kiss Me
again and again

kiss me with lights on and eyes open
kiss me long and hard
kiss me sweet and soft
kiss me awake and kiss me to sleep
kiss me in the wind and the pouring rain and with the sun shining down on us, too
kiss me in the car in the parking lot and at the ball game
look in my eyes hold my face in your hands and kiss me now
kiss me now
kiss me when I smile and laugh kiss me on my tear-stained cheeks
kiss me on Christmas and New Year’s Eve and Halloween, too
and when we’re old and gray kiss me then like the first time
before that last breath and after that last breath we will kiss again
then with fingers to lips the one who remains will hold that kiss close and remember
kiss me again and again
This is a very personal poem that came to me when my husband kissed me goodnight. When he left the room, I quickly wrote it down. I hope you enjoyed it. You can read more of my poems and stories here. Thank you for reading.
“Earth and Sky” is another poem about us and one of my first poems.
