Kick Out Misogynist Men Out Of Your Life
A Book Review on Gaslight Avenue by Nada Chehade

Nada Chehade is one of my favorite writers on Medium. I love this woman who never hesitates to speak her mind. Ah! She is truly fabulous because she has the courage in her bones to live her life on her terms.
While reading her book I got to relate to her words because there have been many incidents in my life where I was gaslighted for speaking my mind or daring to live my life the way I always wanted to.
The majority of the oppression was seen from the side of women themselves in the initial stages. Later on, men too joined this mud-slinging show. No wonder I pity them in the same way she has written in her book.
Why does it become so difficult for society to understand that women aren’t there to raise a kid in the name of their husbands? No. We don’t want a highly immature man who cannot even bake his bread. We are done with that kind of shit. Sacrificing yourself and calling it love…well… I call it stupidity.
Her book made me so proud of her and all those women who have been through hell but never backed down. They found their way out of the clutches of these misogynist men and carved a path for themselves.
Nada’s writing is not only beautiful but thought-provoking. She will move you with her words, making you think about what kind of world you want for yourself. And, most importantly if being a woman you cannot raise other women then just stop being in their path because they deserve someone who could encourage them rather than shutting their doors towards freedom.
My favorite excerpts:
* “I believe in you.” No one ever told me that.
* He reminded me of my husband back home who couldn’t lift his head from the PlayStation 3 to say hello to his wife because he was too busy.
* “In this world, everyone gets what they wished for. You’re a good person, what if you get exactly what you wish for in the end? What if the universe listens to the shit you preach? The women on Gaslight Avenue loved acting like marriage was a divine duty. They stayed with their husbands because it was the gateway to the hereafter, so they got exactly what they asked for. They got their husbands, in the afterlife, for eternity, for forever, a life sentence”.
I would recommend this book to those women who don’t justify the cruel acts of their perverted husbands but rather take a stand and throw him out of their lives.
