Let’s dissect some recent posts that captured readers’ attention and sent read ratio through the roof.

One of the most consistent patterns I’ve noticed is that positivity rules.

Uplifting content, especially ones that provide practical advice to lead a happier life, gets the limelight.

This could be a list of books to read, habits to cultivate, or simply stories of human resilience.

But there’s a trick — While a positive headline is great, sometimes the use of negative words like ‘never’ or ‘stop’ can grab attention even more.

For example: “7 Things You Need To Stop Doing To Be More Productive, Backed By Science”. It currently has 173,000 claps from 45770 people.

2. Everybody Loves a Good Story

Who doesn’t love a captivating story?

Personal stories, those genuine experiences, and struggles, often capture the heart and mind. They resonate because they’re authentic, and every reader finds a part of themselves in them.

For example, “13 Ways I Completely Changed My Life in a Year and So Can You” by Tim Denning who is a top writer on Medium always have a captivating story from his own life experiences.

My takeaway from this is to engage your readers. A simple nudge like, “What’s your story?” can encourage them to share and engage with your content.

Being intriguing is an art. It’s all about presenting standard topics in a way that stands out.

For instance, while countless articles offer tips on becoming a millionaire, flipping the narrative to focus on why one can’t become a millionaire can be a game-changer.

Also remember, It’s not about being controversial, but about presenting a fresh perspective.

For instance: Craft headlines that invoke curiosity. If “How to be Happy” sounds cliché, “The Surprising Reasons You Aren’t Happy” might just be your golden ticket.

For instance: I was scrolling through Twitter’s Trending page and came across news that Twitter has now started sharing ad revenue with the creators.

And based on that topic I wrote an article “Earning Millions on Twitter? Top 10 Creators Shared Their Earnings!!!” which performed very well and gave me a jump start.

This gives you tons of material for your content. I generally use Twitter, Quora, Reddit, and Google Trends.
