Abstract

g your energy, you are telling yourself and your spirit that you mean what you say and you will follow through. As we keep our promises to ourselves and others we can know that the universe is smiling down on us. It winks at us with the beauty of the day, with a coin on the ground that you pick up with glee, with the sight of a beautiful bird in flight.

Simplifying our routines can help us keep our word more easily. Having set routines in place for daily life can ensure that when we decide to make a promise to ourselves or to someone else, we will be able to take it on. This is why I have a simple routine for maintaining our home neat and tidy as a family team so that we are able to keep our word to our home. Our home has a spirit too, and that spirit needs care and attention. Caring for yourself and your home through routines will free you up to keep your promises of moving forward in your life while helping others along the way.

Lately, I have made a promise to my son that every day after lunch we go outside and tell stories. Keeping Promises to Yourself

Day 15: Being true to your word is like a daily prayer to the universe

Noticing new growth on my huckleberry bushes on this morning’s walk spoke directly to my soul. The infinite nature of this plant, with new leaves, berries forming and ripening, all to delight the senses. My daily path on this journey is filled with abundance and light, if I choose to truly see it. This is the route I am walking for 100 days and beyond as I explore each facet of the book The Infinite Self by Stuart Wilde.

Today is a perfect day to look into the theme of keeping your promises and your word to yourself. This truly is a sacred prayer to the universe that you make by your actions every day. This morning I woke up a little later than I usually do. At first I was panicked. I have a morning routine that helps guide my days and keeps me grounded. Would I have time to do everything? I decided that I would keep my word to myself and go through my routine. Yes, I would be sitting down to write a little later than I was used to, but I would be keeping my word.

Creating time for my morning meditation, morning walk outdoors, a healthy breakfast and tidying our home is a promise that I make to myself every day. Today I decided to keep that promise and truly trust that everything would work out as it needed to be.

It’s important to establish your word as law unto yourself and others, because that in itself becomes an affirmation of your ever developing authority over the ego. If you say to yourself that you will do something, do it. Don’t make promises you won’t keep, and do make promises to others if you can’t or won’t follow through. Become immaculate. Be honorable. -Stuart Wilde

I have established my word as law by following through on my morning routine. This time is precious because it sets up my whole day. I dedicate this time to my spirit, to the universe, to nature and to God. With this time I am sending loving intentions out for myself and others. This is the rock solid pillar in my day. Other things may happen that I cannot anticipate, however if I follow through on this time, I can be sure that I have a foundation to handle whatever is to come.

By making your word law, you develop power. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Most people are not used to their word as law. They are used to wimping out — slip-sliding away if conditions don’t suit them. It weakens them, for the mind knows you’re full of bull. -Stuart Wilde

When you keep your word to yourself and others, you are raising your energy, you are telling yourself and your spirit that you mean what you say and you will follow through.

We bring some drinks outside, I sit at the patio table, he splashes around in the little pool and we enjoy an hour or two together. I know that the rest of my day needs to be scheduled right so that I can keep that promise to him. Keeping my word to him shows that I value this story-telling time as deeply important.

As you work on yourself, your concentration moves away from the mundane and toward the infinity of spirit within; your total energy moves up faster and faster. Your ability to materialize things in life becomes more and more instantaneous. -Stuart Wilde

I have noticed this on my journey so far. Each day that I follow through on my promises to myself and others, my spirit is filled with joy. I just start smiling all of the time. Even if I have a moment of panic, a moment of worry, I am able to come back to my center more quickly now. I have begun to have more ideas and I am able to implement them at a faster rate. My joy and gratitude creates a great light in my heart. Through the ups and downs of life, I know that I can keep my feet firmly on the path and trust my inner guidance. I trust that I can keep my word and keep growing every day.

My prayer and intention for you today is that you look at the promises that you make to yourself. Can you keep them? If you have taken on too many promises to yourself, where can you simplify? It is valid to review your choices and to adjust them. From this day forward you will be more able to keep your word to yourself and others.

What promises are you making and keeping to yourself and others today?
