The first part of Dr Mehmet’s video marketing challenge.

Three days late and a dollar short of the 30-day deadline. No excuses.

The doctor’s idea was for us all, if we wanted, to produce a video either starring ourselves — what can I say, I’m an exhibitionist — or a graphical design style one like this one from Besom & Bletherskite.

I’m afraid I don’t possess the design skills to achieve what Alison did, despite her helpful article. The hours I spent trying various unhelpful apps (not the ones Alison used) and practising reading my bio, I still came up with just me and Photo Booth on my iMac.

I do know how to get something onto YouTube though, so here is my effort.

Admittedly it is not as polished as I think the Dr would have liked but it is a start. I’m also an optimist. Here’s hoping this is good enough.

I am no longer a perfectionist and embrace my mistakes as learning opportunities to do better next time. Next time I might have learnt how to edit video and remove the lines I fluff!

Oh, and if you know a way of reading text and being able to look directly at the camera at the same time please do share your knowledge with me!

Karen Madej is usually an English Language Coach to French business people but currently, due to circumstances outside of her control, she is not doing too well in her ILLUMINATION writer and editor activities due to packing up her flat and moving nearer her call centre job.

Normal service will be resumed in a couple of weeks.

She did manage to squeeze in this video and hopes to achieve YouTube superstardom in the near future.
