Kanye for 2020 president?

Yall I don’t think he’s joking

Alright well, it’s official Kanye West is running for America’s 2020 presidency. What a world we live in. Now I have a lot of opinions on this but first, let me just say I have always been a Kanye fan. From his early music like the iconic college dropout, till even albums like Jesus is king, I’ve always respected him as a man even if I didn’t agree with the words he puts out. His reputation and accomplishments are nothing short of remarkable. The man simply put is a genius. Although he may say things lots of people don’t agree with he has the confidence to speak his own mind even when the world tells him he’s wrong.

This time however I just can’t. Surprisingly I’m not opposed to the idea of Kanye running for president. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he should win but I thought the same thing about Donald Trump. So I figured there’s no shame in him trying. With Kanye’s past actions no one should be surprised by him running for president. In fact, I would've enjoyed seeing him in the 2024 election like he recently stated. But now? why now? Kanye why are you jumping into this election at the last minute? It makes absolutely zero sense to me. It’s almost hard to take him seriously because everything he does feels like a publicity stunt.

I’m not exactly sure about Kanye’s vision in this. There is absolutely no way he is going to win this election and I would hope he knows that. So why is he announcing this absurd statement on July 4th of all days? Is it for attention, or maybe he’s trying to somehow set himself up for 2024? I’m not sure but whatever he’s doing it is just making 2020 seem like more and more of a joke.

Honestly, it is pretty funny. When I first saw his tweet I laughed. The issue is I don’t think he was trying to be funny. The man has participated in zero debates, zero public/private interviews, and has never proven himself worthy of deserving our vote. I’m not sure what he expects to happen here but the only thing any person can do is look at this and laugh. He is making a fool of himself and all the people that support him.

There is one thing for sure though. The fact that Kanye can announce that he’s running for president like he did is a testament to what this election as a whole is becoming, a joke. We live in an America where some people might actually stop and consider voting for Kanye because the other 2 candidates are so hard to admire. Let’s be real Trump and Biden are nowhere close to ideal candidates. Most people are just trying to choose the best from the 2, well the best from the 3 now I suppose. Reality is the people that are actually qualified to be president are smart enough to know being the president sucks. Why would you want to be president when you can become a CEO or a doctor. The presidency is a hard job, always being in the spotlight and having people that disagree with you. Always having to be politically correct. It sure as hell wouldn’t be my dream.

Kanye is not going to get elected, but it is inspirational. We live in a time where anyone can be president. Anyone can be anything, isn't that incredible. You don’t need an Ivy school education or maybe even college at all. We live in a country where Kanye West can attempt to run for president, foolish or not I think that’s something to be proud of.
