Not only for those who think they figured it out but also for others who don’t have a clue. The peanut seller we are talking about belongs to the second category — yet his life has dramatically changed thanks to the internet.
The ‘Kacha Badam’ song he used to sing to attract customers for selling raw peanuts made him an overnight internet sensation with millions of views. And it’s getting better and better with each day.
On YouTube, the song ‘Kacha Badam’ garnered around 300 million views within just four months.
From random TikTokers to top celebrities, everyone has fallen prey to this peanut seller’s unheard-of yet interesting song and joined the #KachaBadam challenge.
Who is this peanut seller?
Bhuban Badyakar was just another ordinary man living in Birbhum, West Bengal, India. He used to reside in an earthen house with his family and sell raw peanuts to earn money.
He has been selling raw peanuts for years, roaming from one village to another riding his old bike.
He sold peanuts not only in exchange for money but also some other things, including broken mobile sets, old imitation jewelry, fallen hair, faded City gold chains, etc.
Bhuban turned his selling proposition into a song. And he used to sing it aloud to grab his customers’ attention.
The lyric goes like this —
Badam, Badam — brother! Kacha Badam (raw peanuts) Oh, Sister! I don’t sell any Bhaja Badam (roasted peanuts)
You can exchange your faded gold anklets, Bangles, city gold chains, or broken mobiles For an equal amount of peanuts

I sell only Kacha Badam
Though Bhuban worked hard all day, he earned very little, around $5 to $8 daily.
Apart from this peanut-selling endeavor, he also worked as a farmer on his little land to grow some crops. All the hard work yet little or no money made his life miserable.
Then one day, something incredible happened.
‘Kacha Badam’ broke the internet
Bhuban loved to sing while carrying out his peanut business. And that’s nothing serious. He did it to grab people’s attention so that he could sell some more peanuts.
People started loving the song as they were getting entertained by it.
One day a random person found the song so fascinating that he filmed Bhuban Badyakar singing his ‘Kacha Badam’ song and later uploaded the video on the internet.
As I told you before — the internet is a weird place — the video took off.
Netizens started sharing the Kacha Badam song on social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Soon many remix versions also became available with exciting dance steps.
Thus it went super viral.
Each day more and more people joined the #KachaBadam challenge. People started uploading their own Kacha Badam dance videos from different parts of the world.
Even famous Bollywood celebrities, including Madhuri Dixit, Rajkumar Rao, and Bhumi Pedenkar, posted their own Kacha Badam dance videos on TikTok.
But despite becoming a huge hit, the song failed to make Bhuban any money as he had no clue about the internet and how it works until Rapper and singer Amit Dhul came to the scene.
Amit composed the song jointly with Bhuban and made an enticing music video for it starring Nisha Bhatt. Amit and Bhuban Badyakar also acted in that music video. Later the song was released on Bajewala Records Haryanvi YouTube Channel on February 05, 2022.
And this dramatically changed Bhuban’s life.
The music video became a global hit. So far, it has earned around 300 million views from around the globe.
And it’s still accelerating at an incredible speed.

Money and fame started coming in.
Bhuban also started getting offers from different music companies to make music for them. Even Bhuban and his wife were invited to different TV shows and received so much love and adoration.
So many YouTubers, social media celebrities, and selfie seekers started gathering to meet him at his tiny earthen house.
When asked about the sudden changes in Life, Bhuban says, “Life has indeed changed a lot. It is God’s grace. I am being invited to the shows and events now.”
Bhuban is deeply religious, and despite sudden stardom, he tries to remain grounded.
He recently completed building a new house for himself and his family. He also bought a second-hand car. But unfortunately, he met with a minor accident while learning to drive and then decided to sell it. He also wrote a song about the car titled Amar Notun Gari (My New Car).
Now Bhuban Badyakar is working on his sequel “Kacha Badam 2.” He doesn’t sell peanuts anymore and he is very happy that people recognize him as a musician.
“The best part is I am not just a peanut seller now. People see me as a musician and this is a proud moment for not just me but also for my village,” He explained. “I experienced so many things in the past few weeks. I must admit sometimes the attention is leaving me in awkward position. I am not used to this popularity. But I am happy and looking for a better future for my family with help of my music talent.”

If you think deeply, you will realize Bhuban Badyakar did nothing but what he did best; selling raw peanuts by singing. But he did this hard work with full conviction.
