Just Stop Giving A Damn And See How Your Life Changes For The Better

It’s really possible to let go

Honestly, how many annoying things you encounter that can ruin your entire day?

I get incredibly frustrated by the things stupid people do. I burst a blood vessel now and then when other people do not respect the things I care about.

Needless to say, I get stressed way too often and my emotions can change at the flick of a switch.

I realize how foolish I was in assuming that everyone saw the world the same way I do. I came to see that not everyone wanted the same things I wanted in life. And personality types vary. It’s unwise to think that I can change anyone’s behavior.

Despite knowing the obvious, I continue to get frustrated over other people’s actions until I decided to stand up for myself and say, enough is enough. There was no reason to allow things outside my control to tighten the grip over my emotions.

The good news is we have the capacity to master freedom from frustration and live a more carefree life.

How can you become more objective and be happier in life? Here are some points that might help.

Accept that being calm is a choice

The first step is to decide which emotions deserve your attention. Keeping your mind clear means making deliberate choices that can bring you more happiness into your life. Don’t hold on to thoughts that are causing you stress, tension or hurt.

You need not force yourself to ignore or forget about what has happened. Accept that you’re thinking about them but don’t hold on to them. There is no need to explain, justify, or find out why it happens. Just let it be and watch it drift away as easy as it arrives.

This can be harder to accomplish in reality, but be intentional. Once you let it go, move on, and don’t look back.

Wise up and seal your lips

People normally assumed that if you bottle up your negative feelings, you’ll eventually explode in a fit of rage. So the conventional wisdom is to complain. Unfortunately, the opposite is true.

Complaining makes you more upset because it forces you to relive an unpleasant experience. It drags you back to the past and forces you to mentally go through the negative event all over again. Your brain will back up that behavior with thoughts and feelings, giving you more reason to be upset.

Choosing not to talk about it will work to your advantage. Your brain will interpret that the event must not be all that bad, and you’ll slowly think about it less. This will help you to move on easier, resulting in you feeling better, faster.

Learning the art of surrender

When we’re willing to accept the things we cannot change and change the things we can, it frees up a lot of mental space. There’s so much that we don’t know, and yet we are so quick to jump to conclusions and make judgments. As the saying goes, everyone is fighting their own battle, so be kind.

What if you make the simple choice to focus your energy somewhere else? On things that matter to you. Those are things that are important to you, including what you want out of life and your personal values. Or even simply redirecting your focus on something that will bring a smile to your face.

It’s actually pretty direct. Things are only as complicated as you make it.

Just don’t give a damn

That can include a lot of things. It could be about what everyone else thinks. About who likes you and who doesn’t. About who says what and who didn’t. About keeping up appearances. About others’ expectations. About what you should or shouldn’t be doing, according to people’s opinions.

Heck! There is freedom in not getting so wrapped up in our tiny little world. Maybe the best way to having peace of mind is to care just a little bit less.

Definitely love yourself, but don’t consume your precious time in trying to keep up. The very thing you are freaking out about now would mean nothing in a matter of an hour, a day, or a year. It probably won’t even matter as you turn around the corner, so what’s all the fuss?

Just go live your life

The secret to a fulfilling life is never about caring too much. Sometimes, in an attempt to make the world a better place, we put on too much on our shoulders. We end up with unnecessary stress and burden for ourselves.

Start thinking more about the parts of yourself that you love: your creativity, your compassion, your strengths. And start obsessing over what you think is great about you. Whatever you feed becomes most powerful, therefore stop giving your power away.

Care less about almost everything, especially the things you have no power to change. It isn’t about not caring at all, just more focused on caring about things that actually matter.

I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a lot of work for me to do.
