Just Say “No”
Simplify your life with fast decisions

Does this sound familiar: You have to make a decision and think back and forth. There are arguments for and against it. You spend more and more time gathering information on the topic, but you don’t come closer to a decision.
But is it always like this?
Concerning decisions, there are three situations:
- If you are enthusiastic about it, decide immediately and start with the implementation. It is a clear “Yes!”
- Decisions, where you immediately decide against it and don’t do anything further. It is a clear “No!”
- Decisions, for which you need a long time and then often, even if you finally decide in favor of it, only sluggishly start with the implementation.
Look back over the last 2–3 months:
- What decisions have you made?
- In which of the three categories did these decisions fall?
- How much time did you spend on each decision?
- In which category did the most time-consuming decisions fall?
- If something fell into category “3” and you decided to do it, did you implement the decision?
Maybe you will find out that you spend the most time on category “3” decisions. And that even if you ultimately decide to do it, it doesn’t get implemented. I can’t remember a single category “3” decision I successfully implemented. Mostly, it cost me a lot of money, and I didn’t get any benefit from it (e.g., seminars I booked and never attended). And not only a lot of money, but the lifetime wasted on such decisions is also even more critical.
My learning from my reflection: If there is no enthusiastic “Yes!” for something but more a “Maybe, I need more information,” let it be. It saves time, and I can focus on more important things.
