Just Little Ol’ Me
Just a taste of who I really am

I wrote a piece like this not long after I came to Medium. However, I think it’s time to reintroduce myself to the world, or at least to those who have just come to meet me. Let me tell you a little bit about me and my world.
I drive a spaceship
As you can see in the picture above, I drive a spaceship. Okay, it’s not a spaceship but it feels like it. I ride a 2007 1835cc Roadhawk Trike. The Mr. and I make an annual trek to Sturgis, South Dakota every year for the Bike Rally. Though we do spend some time in downtown Sturgis (along with thousands of other motorcycle enthusiasts), we spend most of our time riding through the Black Hills. It’s beyond beautiful.
I married my high school sweetheart 30 years after we broke up.
I’ve written a very detailed piece about my hubby, so I’ll keep this one brief. My husband was my very first boyfriend when I was 13 (he was 15). We only dated for a short time, but we stayed friends throughout the years. We both moved on with our lives. We both married in 1990, both had two kids with our spouses, and both filed for divorce in 2012. We got married a year later and it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made.
I take care of people with special needs
In my “real world” life, I take care of people with special needs who are of retirement age. I’ve been doing this for about eight years now and it’s the best job I’ve ever had. I get to spend each day hanging out with people who have become my extended family. We dance and sing and play games. We laugh and cry and learn together. I love my job.
I am Supermom
Between the Mr. and I, we have four kids and ten grandkids. I’ve always been the mom that did the things. I was my son’s Boy Scout leader for thirteen years. I did PTA, helped with the cheer squad, and always did the fundraiser things. Now, I’m raising one of the grandkids and trying to keep from losing my mind. But, I gotta keep going, for her sake.
I have several people living in my head
I’ve started writing an epic fantasy series called The Immortal Warrior Queen. It’s about Queen Medb and how she came to be, and survived, as an immortal. The thing is, she’s not the only character I do this for. I write for two different multi-character sites. On one, I write as the goddess Demeter and on the other, I write as Cherish McKenzy. A sensitive who’s being called to a life in New Orleans. I also have a personal site outside of Medium where I write as Queen Nefertiti who’s also found the key to immortality, Lillith, your guide through the afterlife, and Kate Rhodes, an immortal, paranormal investigator.
I am an ancient history fanatic
I know more about ancient civilizations than I do about the history of my own country. I’ve been studying ancient history since I was nine years old. I just always thought I’d been born in the wrong era. I spend hours watching (or just listening to) documentaries on ancient history, archaeology, and mythology.
I’m an only child with two older sisters
I was born the only child to my mother and biological father. However, my mother remarried two more times after and I got an older sister out of both marriages. We’re still close to this day and I couldn’t imagine my life without them.
Okay, kids, that’s me. Well, part of me anyway. It’s not exciting, but it’s the truth. Thank you Ravyne Hawke for posting this prompt. I’m sure there’s more in there somewhere, but I didn’t want to put our readers into a coma. LOL
