Just Like Her
A poem
There was a girl Blonde hair, blue eyes Prettier than I ever saw In real life And I wanted to be just like her I watched her moves Tried to copy her style Even pretended to be her Every once and a while
Now it’s been close to 15 years I still catch myself Comparing things in my life To what she used to be I still hang Christmas lights On my ceiling Because that’s something She taught me
Now we’ve both grown up quite a bit We’re no longer the teenagers That once thought we were hot shit But the past still tingles On my fingertips Something that feels like watching A trailer on a big screen TV So emotionally riveting But that just can’t be me
