Just Letting Keeley’s Medium Friends Know She’s Heartbroken

Phoenix was diagnosed with inoperable cancer last night. Keeley is trying to keep it together for Caelin’s sake. She wrote this on Facebook this morning and I felt compelled to share it with you.

“She’s the glue that’s held us together, the reason our family has always felt complete even before human babies were on the horizon.

My best friend, my first-born, my everything: You have given me everything I’ve needed and more, you changed the entire trajectory of my life. Without you, I’d be floating through life doing Dog knows what.

Thoughts of losing you have plagued me ever since I let you into my heart, even since you were a puppy, and now those same thoughts catch and shorten my every breath.

There’s nothing more we can do but be with you and love you, whether that be for days, weeks or months — no one knows.

Death is the only certainty in life, yet it’s the hardest thing to prepare for. There’s nothing else we can do but give you all the love we have for however long you have left.”
