June is LGBTQ Month-Time to Celebrate Diversity and Inclusion
Why are the haters so afraid of others that are different?
June has been designated as LGBTQ National Pride Month and celebrates the many people who proudly fly the rainbow flag of the LGBTQ community. June was picked because it was the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York where the Gay Pride Movement was born, and LGBTQ people fought back against routine police discrimination.
And now it is celebrated by millions all over the world. June will be marked by celebrations including Pride parades, parties, music, and memorials. It is all about inclusion and equality. It is all about peace and love.
People are entitled to live their lives fully and enjoy the human rights we are all born with. It is a time to celebrate love, to celebrate diversity, and leave onto others their otherness.
Nobody has the right to discriminate against the LGBTQ community just because they don’t approve of a lifestyle that is joyous, mindful, and celebrates life. One that is different than theirs. Who cares?
Live and let live. There have been LGBTQ communities all over the world since recorded history began. They are not going away.
But the haters are recoiling in fear and paranoia. There have been well over 400 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced this year, more than twice as many as last year.
Some bills would increase “forced outings” where teachers would be required to alert parents when a student begins going by a different name or pronouns. Others burn books they fear. How very medieval of them.
These haters are all in a lather, frothing at the mouth as they scramble over each other to devise even more hateful measures than the last one. Like the Don’t Say Gay policy of the weak two-faced Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis.
They are so frightened of anybody that is different than them they are trampling all over their human rights And why is that?
Maybe it is because the cowardly MAGA Republicans who are pushing these bills are afraid of themselves. Many people fear that quality in others, which they secretly fear the most in themselves. Could this be the reality behind their anti-LGBTQ crusade? It would explain a lot.
The haters are getting more and more frightened. Target has recently been harassed by self-righteous haters knocking over LGBTQ displays, threatening store employees with violence, and taking videos of themselves and their intolerant, bullying behavior to post on conservative media. How very brave and “manly” of them. Look in the mirror to see the truth.
Drag queens, of all people, are being threatened by the haters who want to eliminate them as people. Drag queens somehow really threaten these “manly men?” Oh my! Why is that?
People who obsess over their own toxic masculinity are especially afraid of drag queens, whether the drag queens are straight or not. Maybe because they are so frightened and repulsed/attracted to them? They are frantic, panicked, and obsessively concerned with the fear of “the other.” They overreact because of their own fears and failings.
The same kind of warped, twisted hateful rhetoric and insistence on getting their way is the same reason these MAGA Republicans are such flaming, hysterical proponents of the denial of abortion rights to women.
They just don’t get it. People are people, and women’s rights are human rights. So are LGBTQ rights. One size does not fit all.
Social media and right-wing conservative talk show hosts are fanning the flames of the culture wars to incite the worst fears of many people.
They hide behind the curtain of religion, they cower behind the fire and brimstone mentality they choose to embrace, and they ban books instead of guns because they are such twisted, paranoid little mini-minds.
People are people. Nobody is perfect or meant to be demonized because of their lifestyle. Whatever happened to Voltaire’s famously moral statement? “ I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
America is moving forward, with or without the hysterical, cowardly haters. America and the world are becoming more and more inclusive, more ethnically diverse, and more receptive to differences in other people.
Peace and love will prevail, and sooner than later. We are all connected…
