Abstract

Hello Kraken Crew and land-lubbers!

I hope everyone is well and staying cool. (It’s been pretty warm here in the States as of lately.) To sort of celebrate some of the holidays that are taking place this month I would like to offer a few writing prompts. I encourage everyone to participate whether you’re a writer for The Kraken Lore or not.

The Moose Monster

Canada Day is July 1st and I can’t help but associate Canada with a moose. (I’m sorry) With that in mind I offer you this prompt to write about:

You’re a cryptid hunter in the search of the moose monster. A beast of immense size, the largest of its kind. Perhaps the most terrifying aspect of it is its carnivorous appetite, and it just locked eyes with you.

Liberty or Death

July 4th is Independence day in the US. I encourage you to write a fantasy setting where the protagonist is in a final stand moment against the big bad evil guy (or gal). Include this quote in your story:

Give me liberty, or give me death!

Bottle ’Em Up

This one doesn’t pertain to any holidays but is an interesting one regardless. I offer you this prompt:

Your protagonist lives in a world where you can purchase bottled emotions. Local authorities try to regulate the trade but illegal dealers and black markets run rampant. Some emotions are worth much more than others.
