JPMorgan is Making Blockchain Mainstream
JPMorgan Chase & Co, one of the heavyweights of the financial world is reportedly developing services using blockchain technology.
JPM’s CEO who called Bitcoin a fraud not so long time back is now supporting the development of payment services through cryptocurrencies. Supposedly JPM has been testing out the technology in a controlled environment but will now be rolling it out to customers. Will this bring in the other big players?
I would say yes. Once institutional money goes into something, generally others will follow.
So JPM even created their own crypto, named JPM Coin. However, this is not a publicly traded currency such as Bitcoin or Ripple. The fact that its scope is limited to only JPM customers makes it closer to the idea of stable coins.
This might be a first step, internal adoptions. Other companies have also been investing in such developments as Square. Further details here:
In the article above, I also mention the BLOK ETF and its major holdings. I am evaluating the addition of Square, Accenture, and Overstock to my long portfolio but will depend on the market behavior over the next weeks. I am expecting a market pullback soon.
Bottom Line
Might not seem much but if such a big bank is betting on Blockchain is because there is a reason for it. Banks tend to look to numbers and mostly returns. So let’s believe they are paving the way to the technology.
Blockchain might not change the world as many claims, but for sure we will be hearing more and more about it in the real world.
