How to listen to life

For many months, I could not hear very well. My ears felt stuffy, perhaps from allergies. I had to turn up the volume and sit close to people to listen in.

It was a strange experience because I used to have excellent hearing. I would often know what the plan was even before someone came to tell me.

Today at work, I heard loud noises coming from the walk-in refrigerator and the ice machine. Instead of annoying me, I felt elated because I could register the sound.

Often we take our senses for granted.

At this moment, the roar of the dishwasher is my companion. Life is always here for us if we choose to listen.

My wish for you today is to take in the world around you as much as you can. What a gift life is!
