Joyful Christmas Vibes In London
A walk down memory lane
I haven’t been back in the UK for Christmas for a while, but looking over my pictures creates feelings of deep nostalgia within me.
I often forget how festive the city becomes during the holiday period and it is one of the things that causes me to miss London at times.
There are so many Christmas happenings in the city during this period and I used to take them for granted.
Here are a few pictures of London during the festive holiday season.
When I was younger, my parents would drive my siblings and me around the city every Christmas evening to look at the pretty city lights.
Seeing the lights always reminds me of my childhood now, and every year the lights used to be so different and would sometimes even have a theme. I remember there used to be Disney-themed lights sometimes too which I was really into as a kid.
There are so many spots around the city to see the Christmas lights, you don’t even need to search for them because they embellish the whole city!
I love the vibe the lights give London, it fills the air with magic. The same city that I lived and worked in on a daily basis would seem so different all because of the lights.
London also boasts many great Christmas markets. There are many scattered around the city and all of them offer unique trinkets and foods from around the world.
This is one of the biggest appeals of London. It is such a diverse place and a melting pot of so many different cultures.
Even though there are so many markets, you never get bored of visiting them all! This one was right by Trafalgar Square so you could shop with a great view.
During the winter in Hyde Park, the city organize a fairground event called Winter Wonderland. It usually lasted from mid-November to the beginning of January.
I used to go every year with my friends and had such a blast.
Winter Wonderland consists of small rides, market stalls, food trucks, and theme park-style games. It is such a fun way to spend an evening and I always had such a great time!
They also introduced a Bavarian-style beer tent where they served beer in huge steins, played loud music, and people were dancing on tables; it really was a good time!
You would end up talking to complete strangers and partying with them, it brought everyone together.
I never used to think of London as such a Christmassy place but looking through my old memories I can't believe I ever thought it wasn’t.
The vibe during Christmas is so exciting to be around and the city is lit up like never before.
I hope that this has inspired you to check out London during the Christmas period one day!
