Jolly Bug Light-giver
November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Collecting Smiles”
Shining bright from the bottom up.
For my 56th birthday, my son gave me a lightning bug. I keep it on my writing desk to remind myself that life is not that serious. I mean, look at that face and try not to smile. 🙂
It has a special feature. On mornings when I feel a little down, I twist the bottom, and voila, it lights up. I look at it for a while and breathe slowly. I focus on my body – the place beneath my ribcage where my inner light lives.
Some days, I get trapped in my mind and forget the wisdom that lives inside the light. I sit quietly, tune out my cluttered thoughts and tune into the peace that flows with my breath.
The light reminds me that we all have our inner lightning bug inside us. We are all part of a grand plan, all connected and flashing love to one another.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. ~Edward G. Ivins
