Join Our Pub! Updated Midform Rules for Writers 2024
Celebrating our 3rd year with new writer’s guidelines and a dedication to quality for our readers

Dear Writers,
As we move into our 3rd year of publishing, we’re making some updates to our Submission Rules to ensure our Midform publication is even better in 2024.
Midform is famous for our 3 easy rules, but times change and this year we’re going to add a few more to make sure our writers understand our publishing standards, and to help improve the quality of our publication.
Please read our rules and other guidelines carefully and make sure you comply with ALL of them.
We are committed to publishing quality stories on Midform and we reserve the right to reject any story that does not align with our writing standards and values.
Overall, we want to leave our readers feeling better having read the articles we publish through Midform than they did when they arrived — it’s our honor to provide quality over quantity.
Our 7 Rules for Publication in Midform
- First things first. No rants, no blatant negativity, no politics, no blatant promotions, no AI written articles (we’re here to celebrate human writers) and no controversial topics.
- We only accept Draft articles.
- Story length: 800 words or less: This includes EVERYTHING in the article including photo captions, embedded links and writer blurbs at the end — check the word count in your draft using Ctrl+A for Windows or ⌘+A for Macs before submitting your article.
- Be professional and format your article correctly: — Format your Title and Subtitle properly (big T and small T using the Medium formatting tool) — Always put your main image under the Subtitle.
- Add photo credits under all your images. Include hyperlinks back to the source for any images used from Unsplash, Pexels or Pixabay. If you own the image you can use Image by Author as the photo credit. Only use photos and images that you have permission to use.
- Always proofread and check your grammar before submitting your article.
- Add a Key Message at the end of your article EXACTLY as formatted below. Be sure to click the quote button twice like this:

Turn on Private Notes:
Private notes allow our editors to communicate with you during the editing process so make sure yours are turned on. You can check your Settings by editing your Profile and going to the Publishing Tab to make sure there’s a check beside Allow readers to leave private notes.

Responding to Private Notes:
If you receive a private note from a Midform editor, please reply to that note to let us know you made the recommended changes. Do not dismiss the private note and remove them from your story. If you do, it will only delay the publishing of your story, since we won’t know if you made the changes or not.
Midform Topics:
Midform is an open-topic publication, but we reserve the right to decline any story that we feel is not a good fit for us or that violates Medium’s Rules.
How To Join Us as a Writer:
Just add a comment to this story with your Medium @ handle and a short sentence saying I’ve read your 7 rules. That’s it! We’ll add you to the roster ASAP.
As before our intention is to keep this publication open to writers — and we’re a welcoming place for both new and experienced writers.
Please be sure you Follow us and Subscribe to our Newsletter so you’ll always be in the know!
Publishing:
Our goal is a quick turnaround to publish between 24 and 48 hours or comment with a private note for changes/suggestions.
Make sure your Private Notes are turned on and you respond back to us within a day. Otherwise we may send your story back to you to keep our queue clear :)
Reminder — you’re responsible for editing your own work so make sure you follow our Rules and also Proofread and use a Grammar Checker before hitting that Submit button!
Key Message: We’re excited to continue to grow Midform in 2024 and showcase even more talented writers in our publication. Our dynamic duo editing team is dedicated to providing quick turnaround and great service to our writers.
We can’t wait to see what you write this year. Please join us!
