The jury also ruled that Depp would receive $ 10 million in compensatory damages and another $ 5 million in punitive damages.
However, the jury’s verdict shows that Amber Heard was also defamed, but not by Depp, but by her lawyer, Adam Waldman. As a result, she will receive $ 2 million in compensatory damages, but no punitive damages.
Johnny Depp has sued his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for defamation and is seeking $ 50 million in damages. Depp sued Heard for an article published in The Washington Post in 2018, in which the actress described herself as “a public figure representing domestic violence.”
Although Depp’s name did not appear in the article, the actor claims that he lost important opportunities and roles as a result.
Amber Heard also sued Depp for $ 100 million. Heart and Depp met in 2009 and were married between 2015 and 2016.
The defamation process has been going on since April, and jurors were present for more than 100 hours of testimony.
Depp will not attend the verdict hearing in the UK for “pre-scheduled commitments”. However, Heard is expected to be present for the verdict.
