Job Transitions Are Difficult & Here’s What You Should Do
The steps you should always do when you leave a company.

Well, there is no denying that Job transitions are a natural part of most people careers, and you are often so excited to get a better offer and to get started with the new company that you forget to gracefully exit your existing one.
Here are the 5 steps you can do when you are going through one.
1️) Let your project manager know that you are quitting with at least the 2-week notice (usually in the USA) or like the 2-month/3-month notice (usually in India). Your manager should be the first person you officially notify. It’s up to you if you choose to let trusted colleagues/mentors at your company know beforehand. 2️) Every team/organization handles departures differently, usually send an email to your department about a day after my official notice to my manager. I used that day to let some of my close team members know via a personal phone call and continued the conversation with several others as the news was sent out. 3️) Carefully wrap up any pending tasks assigned to you. This may include digging up old feature requests, emails from a while back, and additional documentation. You can send out a write up of your status to both of your teams as well as a guide for navigating your technical responsibilities for anyone working on the task in the future. 4️) This is your last chance to easily obtain feedback from people who have worked with you for some time. Use this opportunity to gain some additional perspective on your strengths and weaknesses. We have a tradition in our team to talk about it whenever a fellow colleague is leaving the company. 5️) During the exit interview, you’re likely to be asked specific questions regarding your departure. Do answer truthfully and honestly, and also be careful about how you choose to word your last correspondence with your company.
Well, job transitions are always hard for a person who is still working in the first company as you get attached to your mentors, make friends and learn many things that shape your career literally. These steps might be useful to those who are yet to do their first job transition.
