Abstract

The poem "Jittery Low" by Jade Willow delves into the depths of the author's emotional state, characterized by a sense of instability and the fear of descending into personal chaos. Willow articulates the cyclical nature of these negative emotions, acknowledging their tendency to resurface despite moments of respite. The poem takes a turn towards self-empowerment as the author recognizes their own agency in the face of these challenges, emphasizing personal responsibility in seeking change and embracing new experiences. Despite external influences that briefly alter the author's life, the poem concludes with the acknowledgment that true transformation must come from within, as the recurring feelings lead back to the starting point. I feel jittery Like I’m going insane Like I’m walking into my own grave Creating my own misery

These feelings never go away They may disappear some days But they always come back To my dismay

But I am the culprit I am the fix I’m the only one who can change things And bring a new experience into the mix

I thought they could change my life And they did But the feelings didn’t last I’m back where I started Again
