“The secret is my whole business is built around content…”

During one of the first times I spoke about content at an Internet Marketing conference, the promoter pulled me aside and the following conversation took place, in hushed tones:

Promoter: “You know Jeff, my whole business is built around content. In fact, it’s my secret weapon.”

Me: “Yes, I know.”

Promoter: “How could you possibly know that?!? It’s a trade secret! Who have you been talking to? Which of my staff gave it away?”

Me: “Relax. Haven’t talked to any of your staff about this. Don’t need to. Every one’s business, when you boil it down, is built around content.”

Promoter: “Well yeah, that’s true. But I keep it a secret.”

Me: “Well, I don’t…”

Imagine…

Imagine, if you will, a:

  • A video with no visual content
  • A podcast with no audio content
  • An empty conference room with no speakers
  • An empty webinar
  • This article blank…

I think you get the picture.

But Jeff, I don’t like to write!

Well, that’s OK, neither do I.
