Jeff Bezos sells Amazon Stock Shares Worth $2 Billion
Two billion dollars worth of Amazon stock was sold by Jeff Bezos. What might this mean for investors?
Jeff Bezos, the executive chairman of Amazon, reported his sale of roughly 12 million shares of Amazon stock to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on both February 7th and February 8th.
These shares’ worth totaled around $2 billion. Jeff Bezos hasn’t made public any reason for his sale of 12 million AMZN stock shares.
Jeff Bezos also claimed on February 2nd that he plans to sell up to 50 million shares of his Amazon stock by January 31, 2025.
Behind Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos is the 2nd richest man in the world, with a net worth of around $200 billion.
It’s hard to guess what the reason behind his sale of Amazon stock would be; however, since Jeff Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021 to pursue Blue Origin, his aerospace company, it may be that he sees Blue Origin as being worth more of his money and time than Amazon.
What can be expected from Jeff Bezos’s decision is that AMZN stock will fall in price because of the mass sale of the 12 million shares that he owned.
