Art by @Jacquelinejax

There is a growing list of social media influencers who have already made over $5million in a year on social media.

Get the scoop on todays Jax Daily Newsletter.

If you’re a female teen or tween, the odds are high that you are already on the video-based social network, TikTok. It didn’t take long for TikTok to create a new generation of influencers on its platform.

What is TikTok?

ByteDance first launched Douyin for the Chinese market in September 2016. Later, TikTok was launched in 2017 for iOS and Android in most markets outside of mainland China; however, it only became available worldwide, including the United States, after merging with Musical.ly on 2 August 2018.

Listen on Podcast:

Who’s on Tik Tok?

TikTok is a social media app popular among ages 13 to 20 that lets users make short video around themes. Think Karaoke for the digital age. The app is owned by the Chinese technology giant ByteDance.

How much could an influencer make from posting videos on TikTok?

It’s surprising for this being such a young app but the top small percentage of ultra hyped influencers make more than you would expect.

Can you get rich off TikTok?

TikTok does not pay creators any money directly but it is pretty well known for spawning quickly rising influencers who turn around and sell video posts to the highest bidder.

This is not a new tactic for monitoring your social media platform however, it’s proving to be a win if you can amass millions of followers quickly.

The biggest TikTok influencer in the world right now is Charli D’amelio, with 79.5m followers.

Her commercial partnership deals are represented by three names familiar to music industry circles: Greg Goodfried, Ali Berman and Dave Klein at United Talent Agency.

Charli with 52 million followers, 3.5 billion total likes and an average engagement rate of 5.3%, is estimated to earn between $30,934 and $51,556 per post is considered above the average rate for boosting unknown tracks towards the top of global streaming charts, simply by featuring them.

Unsurprisingly, according to reports, these influencers are now charging “escalating” fees for this service — with dozens of emails landing with D’amelio each day from record labels and artists keen to pay whatever it takes. It’s a crowded game, and an expensive one.

Here’s a short list of some high earners currently doing TikTok full time.

  1. Addison Rae Easterling : estimated $5 million last year
  2. Charli D’Amelio : 4 million
  3. Dixie D’Amelio: 2.9 million
  4. Loren Gray : 2.6 million
  5. Josh Richards : 1.5 million
  6. Michael Le 1.2 million
  7. Spencer X 1.2 million
  • This list focuses on stars native to TikTok, and for that reason, it doesn’t include traditional celebs like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Derulo or YouTubers like Zach King and David Dobrik, all of who have large followings on TikTok. (quoted from Forbes:)
