Summary

The January theme for the website's writing community is "Stolen Secrets," encouraging writers to use publicly shared intimate stories as inspiration for their fiction, with a word count range of 100 to 1000 words.

Abstract

The website has announced its first writing theme of 2022, "Stolen Secrets," which invites writers to transform the personal and intimate secrets shared by strangers into fictional narratives. This initiative is not about uncovering hidden truths but rather about using the vulnerabilities that people willingly expose in public as creative kindling. Writers are encouraged to draw from a recent prompt that solicited particularly honest stories, suggesting that those who participated may have their own secrets to contribute. The website's curator will provide tantalizing snippets of these secrets each week to stimulate the writers' imaginations. The guidelines stipulate that submissions must adhere to a Min Max word count policy, with stories ranging from 100 to 1000 words. As the new year begins, the community is wished a Happy New Year, with a reminder to enjoy any remaining holiday time before the writing challenges resume. Additionally, there is a call for support in the form of coffee donations for those who appreciate the website's efforts.

We’re Stealing Public Secrets for Our Stories

There are no hidden secrets with this first theme of 2022 (fingers crossed this year’s not another dumpster fire). We’re using other people’s deepest secrets as seeds for our fertile minds.

January focuses on the deeply intimate stories strangers share publicly.

If you wrote particularly truthful stories for our final prompt of last year (Wow, What a Ride!) then perhaps you’ve got secrets to share too.

Each week I’ll share just the barest sordid details to tickle your fancy, sharing the choicest, juiciest secrets I can find to get your creativity

We’re back to our Min Max word count, so all stories must be within one hundred to one thousand words.

Until Friday, have a Happy New Year and enjoy any last few days of holiday!

If you love what we do — we’d love a coffee. ❤️
