Summary

The undefined website outlines a "January Engagement Challenge" aimed at increasing interaction among writers and readers on the platform by summarizing five stories weekly from different authors.

Abstract

The undefined website introduces a month-long writing challenge for January, designed to foster engagement within the community. Participants are encouraged to select and summarize five stories each week from fellow writers on the platform. These summaries must include the writer's name, a link to the story, and specific tags such as 'January Challenge' and 'articles'. The challenge emphasizes the importance of engaging with different writers each week and will be prominently featured on the main page. Submissions for each week must be made by Saturday, with the challenge running for four consecutive weeks. The initiative is a response to community feedback requesting more engagement and is presented as a fun, collaborative effort rather than a burdensome task.

Opinions

  • The challenge is a direct response to a trend identified in a recent survey indicating a need for increased engagement among PW writers and readers.
  • The challenge is structured to ensure a diverse range of interactions by prohibiting the selection of the same writer more than once (no double-dipping).
  • Engagement is highlighted as both the primary goal and the reward for participating in the challenge.
  • The challenge is presented in a positive light, with an emphasis on fun and community building, rather than as a competitive or obligatory activity.
  • The initiative is led by Ravyne Hawke, the Editor-in-Chief, who encourages participants to view the challenge as an opportunity for mutual support and discovery of new writers.

January Engagement Challenge

Let’s get more engaged this month!

In the recent survey on Engagement, I noticed a trend. PW writers and readers are not engaging or receiving enough engagement. Let’s see if we can change that this month with a little challenge.

The Challenge

Once a week (you choose the day), after reading some of your fellow writers’ stories, choose (5) five stories and write a summary on each one of the five.

The Rules

  • Each summary must include a tag of the writer’s name
  • Each summary must include the link to the writer’s story
  • You must use the following two tags — ‘January Challenge’ and ‘articles’
  • Each week you must choose 5 different writers. No double-dipping!

At the end of this challenge, you will have engaged with twenty different writers on Promptly Written, and you will encourage the rest of us to go visit their work and engage with them as well.

This challenge will be at the top of our main page in its own little box titled “January Engagement Challenge”

If you wish to join the challenge, your articles must be submitted no later than Saturday each week.

Week #1 — January 8th Week #2 — January 15th Week #3 — January 22nd Week # 4 — January 29th

What’s the reward? ENGAGEMENT! You all asked for it, so here is a way to give and receive it!

Have fun with this challenge. Do not look at it as a daunting task.
