Jacopo Tissi, the etoile who escaped from Moscow, at the Teatro alla Scala
He will be the first guest dancer of the Teatro Alla Scala from the 2022–2023 season. For Italy, this is a great return
Jacopo Tissi, the dancer who resigned from the Bolshoi and fled Russia for the war in Ukraine, will be the first guest dancer of the Teatro Alla Scala from the 2022–2023 season. The Italian artist will dance with the Scala Corps de Ballet in different titles of the new Ballet program.
Thus the contract agreed with the Director of the Ball Manuel Legris and Superintendent Dominique Meyer will allow him to plan his presence on different productions during the next season, as announced in an official press release.
After leaving the Bol’šoj Theater a few months after his appointment as Principal Dancer, the artist then reconnects his relationship with La Scala, where his training took place and in whose company he worked for a few years, while also maintaining a guest activity at an international level.
Precisely in this capacity, Jacopo Tissi will be on stage together with the Scala Ballet Company already in July, as a guest artist in some performances of Giselle, ballet scheduled at La Scala from 9 to 16 July 2022.
Jacopo Tissi returned to dance on the great Milanese stage in 2018 during the Bolshoi tour and only a few months ago, on January 28, in Rudolf Nureyev’s La bayadére with the Scaligero Ballet Company with whom, during the new season, will share the stage and work on several scheduled titles.
The dancer will also be on another stage, in a few days: just yesterday he launched the international dance gala of the Arcimboldi Theater, also in Milan, scheduled for Thursday 7 April.
He will be one of the seventeen dancers protagonists of the charity evening “Pace For Peace — At the rhythm of dance ”.
The proceeds will be donated to support Ukrainian refugees in the Milan area.
Jacopo Tissi had resigned as Bolshoi étoile with a heartfelt message on Instagram, about ten days after the Russian attack in Ukraine began. For Italy, this is a great return.
