I’ve written 27 stories on Medium in December
It’s about half as much as I normally write. In recent months I’ve been cranking out around 50+ stories every month.
So, what gives?
It’s a holiday month. I’m taking some time off and although I have batched some work to take my usual last two weeks of the year off, I’m still writing a lot less than normal, in general.
And, I’m ok with that.
What does a 27-story month look like?
I am usually all for writing and publishing 2–3 stories a day.
It’s a heavy writing demand for sure but I don’t have a hard time doing it.
Between taking on a few new clients and taking more time off for the month, I have less time for writing. I’m also feeling a little stuck on ideas.
I have a few concepts I’m working on but haven’t tested them out yet. They require a little more research than I normally do for my stories and that added time hasn’t made it into my schedule yet.
So, a 27-story month looks like:
- Daily jotting down story ideas and saving as drafts in Medium
- Publishing at least one story daily on most days
I usually write on the Medium platform every single day, whether I’m writing a story or saving a headline idea as a draft.
This light month is just what I need to end the year off without feeling burdened and overwhelmed.
Will my Medium income be impacted?
Yes, for sure. I had a breakout month in November, making nearly $6,000.
It’ll be about half as much in December if I’m lucky and that’s totally cool.
I’ve hit some milestones this year I’m pretty proud of like reaching 5,000 followers, making over $5K in a month on Medium, and publishing more than 50 stories in a month.
When January rolls around, I’m going to aim for putting out 50+ stories again. We’ll see how it goes.
How many Medium stories did you publish this month?
I hope you enjoyed reading this. If you’d like to support me as a writer, consider signing up to become a Medium member. It’s just $5 a month and you get unlimited access to Medium.
