I’ve Been Meditating for 90+ Days and These 3 Unexpected Changes Happened.
That will help you kickstart your meditation journey!
After the trials of Meditation for months, I quit it when I used to doze and get distracted with a wandering mind.
I couldn’t even sit for 5 minutes to meditate — I thought it would not work for me.
However, I resumed it three months ago. Despite being naive about Meditation, I stayed consistent, and experienced the changes in Meditation practice and mind state.
My Approaches As A Beginner In Meditation
Initially, I used to have musical Meditation, playing soothing meditation music and closing my eyes for 5 minutes.
Now, I sit calmly for 10 minutes without any soft tone or music.
Speak the OM mantra.
Recite ‘Satnam Waheguru’ (Words for prayer from Sikh scriptures.)
End it by thanking God for all the blessings.
It wasn’t suggested to me by anyone. This practice came naturally to me over time and served with relaxation and soothe.
So, the only hard thing is to begin then the created momentum sticks you to the everyday practice.
Here are the unexpected changes with 90 days of Meditation:
1) Stay aware of what I feel
This awareness relieved burden from my mind as I started recognizing and removing stressful thoughts.
I stay aware of what I think, how to improve it, and what to avoid.
The questions I ask most often to myself:
- What am I feeling?
- Why am I feeling this way?
- What better can I do?
Then, taking instant action as you get answers from your inner self supports you to live a better and happier life.
Self-awareness becomes a stress reliever and guides you in every situation.
2) Comparatively Calmer
I deal with different mindsets while working online — Clients, job peers, team members, and more. It’s not easy, especially for an introvert like me.
Because there’s an acceptable difference between talking with others and dealing with them.
Before I react — I stop. Think of the situation, take it easy, and respond better.
Meditation has supported me to be flexible and calmer since
- Things don’t happen as planned.
- Routines get disturbed due to external factors.
In a study, participants who were regular meditators for two weeks were better at observing negative emotions and receive them patiently.
It even saves your mental energy and avoids mood swings.
So, this emerged trait helps me better resolve issues regarding clients, my work, my job, or team members.
3) Amended Decision-Making
The funny part is I make prominent decisions in less time and with more clarity than making small choices like what to wear, joining something, and going somewhere.
Exact 15 minutes of regular meditation facilitates decision making as an international study by ETHZ proves this.
In this research, meditators were less inclinded to cognitive biases (like ignoring negative news) that ultimately fosters decision making.
Making decisions in my business and career have become a lot easier for me, like
- Investing in any source or course.
- Taking on new challenges.
- Collaborating with somebody.
- Onboarding and saying No to clients.
So, Meditation can be your best path to lucid thought processes and self-awareness that decreases your tension, too.
Meditation has become my habit, and I can’t initiate my day without it.
I know so many things have yet to improve in my practice because I never learned and took guidance for Meditation. I had zero interest in Meditation. I just started it.
That’s the power of beginning.
Meditation helps you reconnect with yourself and become a guiding star when you are primarily engrossed in keep doing, running, and distracting.
