It’s Valentine’s Day! Experience the Greatest Love of All
Love yourself first!

“Give yourself the love you’re willing to give to others.” – Mahin Ismail
Another holiday to define whether we are worthy of love. If one doesn’t have a Valentine, does that mean they aren’t lovable? Do we need to be validated by being given a card and flowers? No, we must realize that our self-worth and lovability come from within.
It’s easy to get caught up in a “holiday” created to sell products and the illusion of what love should look like to willing participants. If one is without a significant other, does that mean that they are shit out of luck and a Valentine loser?
People do not need to rely on someone else to show their affection by showering them with gifts and sweet words of love. One day of “love and kindness” means nothing if the rest of the year, you are being taken for granted and treated poorly.
We don’t need someone to confirm that we are worthy of love on Valentine’s Day or any day. We have to believe we are deserving of true love and respect year-round.
The greatest love and strength we can achieve is when we embrace our shadows, shortcomings, successes, and ourselves fully. When we accept that self-love and happiness come from within and our worth is derived from how we feel about ourselves and not what others think of us, we then will be truly free.
A person cannot give love to another if one cannot find it inside themselves. So, on this day that people express love to others, make sure that you love and honor yourself. Look in the mirror and see your beautiful reflection and know that Valentine’s Day is just another diversion in a society that wants us to believe that others’ opinions are more important than our own. Love yourself completely and everything else will fall into place.
