It’s Trump’s Fault…
…it’s all Trump’s fault! No it is not.
It is our fault.
To think that any one man is at fault for the ills of our society and our condition is folly. Everyone wants someone to blame, a scapegoat, an enemy to vanquish.
It is us.
Certainly, some will disagree (we are allowed to do that by the way), but one won’t get an argument from me that Trump bears responsibility for many things. He is our elected leader. However, he is not the root of the problem (any more than is another person; be it Nancy, Bernie, or Joe. Nor are they the remedy for all our ills.
The problem is us, as a whole.
Question too, what exactly is the problem we are solving? Can that be articulated first, then solved? And, even if one still concludes that Trump (or anyone else is the problem) then what is the solution for that — putting someone else in charge?; into the same cauldron of issues? Dealing with the same cast of characters that are to affect the needed change?
Clearly, the media is not the solution; nor are politics, nor are accusations.
We need unity, we need dialog, we need the freedom to have that dialog. At present one is not even socially permitted to have a different viewpoint without caustic retribution.
Can we at least start by pausing on our inherent biases and considering that others have something valuable to say, something worth considering, something, some piece of reasonable and actionable concepts?
Please, allow others to have opposing opinions and positions. Be respectful. Be fair (on both sides of an issue).
Somehow we need to figure out how to again live in peace and with hope for a better future.
History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Ecc 1:9
To begin with, look inward before casting stones.
