It’s Time To Take Care Of Yourself

In response to Yana Bostongirl ‘s Prompt

This post is in response to Yana’s prompt for February month. Here you can find the prompt.

The prompt is all about,

How do I practice Self Care?

In the last some days, I learned the importance of self-care. I was going through a tough time. I was feeling really low and won’t be able to write.

Sometimes, we all take ourselves for granted. When we are fine, we don’t think about treating ourselves special or spending more time with ourselves.

Spending quality time with yourself doesn’t mean you need to go to a fancy restaurant or you have to plan an abroad trip. By doing some small and simple things, you can lift yourself.

For me, Self-care is a time that I take to improve myself physically and mentally.

What do I do to practice self-care?

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more”

-Lord Byron

I take a short walk in nature. Nature always helps to heal. Spending time in nature helps me to stay calm and it improves my physical and mental health.

Moreover, I do some meditation. Practicing mindfulness is a great way to spend some alone time with yourself.

The last thing that always helps me to go through the tough days is practicing gratitude. Practicing gratitude is a great way to maintain a positive mindset and energy.

“Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: It must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all.” —William Faulkner

All these three things are a part of my self-care routine. They helped me to stay blessed and grounded.

The one more thing that is an important part of my self-care routine is a pep talk. Without them my self-care routine is incomplete. We all have moments in my life when we have to face rejections and failures. Pep talk is a great way to encourage yourself. It makes you more productive.

Recently, Trista shared a beautiful prompt in Thank You Notes about pep talks. Here you can find her beautiful prompt.

Here are some of the small things you can do every day to take care of yourself.

  • Drink enough water
  • Do exercise
  • Do cooking
  • Listen to your favorite music
  • Reflect on your day
  • Try a new hobby
  • Write a self-care journal
  • Spend some time in silence
  • Take a hot water bath
  • Go to library
  • Write a letter to your old friend
  • Take a nap
  • Be creative
  • Laugh
  • Watch something lighter

There are tons of ways to practice self-care if you want to improve yourself and your lifestyle.

The one most important condition of self-care is that first, you need to love yourself. If you don’t love yourself, no matter how hard you try to take care of yourself. You will not be successful.

Until you don’t love yourself you can’t be able to do anything in life.

Love yourself first, and everything else falls in line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world. -Lucille Ball

Therefore first, love yourself and spend some time yourself.

Spending time with yourself is one of the greatest self-care routines you will have in your life.
