It’s Time To Get Serious And Plan My Medium Goals For April
No more horsin’ around.
I have been extremely hot and cold with my writing on Medium.
While writing is a passion I have always wanted to pursue further, lately, I have been non-stop busy working several jobs 7 days a week… I simply haven’t found the time or energy to dedicate the time needed to Medium as a platform for income and growth.
It’s time to change that.
For the month of April (and moving forward), I want to get serious about Medium as an income source and creative outlet for me to express myself, learn from others, and connect with like-minded writers.
That is why I will start setting monthly goals to help grow on this platform.
Medium goals for the month of April:
- Join 3 new publications and submit at least 1 article to each one. Submitting articles to pubs is one of the best ways to grow on Medium, so I need to join a couple and start writing! Bonus: submit a story to a writing contest.
- Make $75 in earnings. This may not seem like a hefty goal to most. And I realize that it’s really not. But, I have been averaging $5-$10 a month on Medium with hardly posting or interacting, so I think that if I stick to my other April goals, $75 will come easy (I hope).
- Write and share an article 3–4 times a week. Consistency is key, and I’ll never grow if I don’t start consistently publishing articles. While I don’t have enough time to write an article every day, I need to start sharing one several times a week. I often write a story and then spend hours editing, which stops me from sharing articles as often as I’d like. It’s time to trust my writing and hit the publish button!
- Join Mastodon. I’ve seen more and more people talk about Mastodon, and I’m excited to learn more about it! There is a new integration feature on Medium, and it’s time for me to hop on the Mastodon train to see what it’s all about.
I also wanted to give a quick shout-out to Skye Howell (she/her) and her article for the inspiration to write this article and make some goals for April! You can (and should) read her article here:
Another shout-out goes to Eve Arnold who wrote a super informative article geared toward writers who also have a full-time job/schedule. I will definitely be adding some of these tips to my writing schedule to help me improve and produce more content!
Final questions to you as readers:
What are your writing goals for the month of April?
What publications do you recommend on Medium?
What do you think of Mastodon (if you’ve tried the site already)?
If you liked my story, you should become a Medium member to read all you want each month, including my articles! :) Consider fueling my writing efforts by buying me a coffee!
