It’s Their Destiny To Love But Remain Apart

Yuánfèn

beautiful-3179182_1920 by NYC from Pixabay

Strangers in a park

Destined to come together

Their love is fleeting

缘分 or yuánfèn (Mandarin)

This word describes the relationship between two people destined to come together but ultimately they will not stay together. This word is one of a series that expresses a feeling that doesn’t translate directly into English.

If a butterfly could sing, would it sing a country dance of fragrant breezes teasing the sunshine in the tall grass?

If you enjoyed this poem, have a look at my book, We Swallow Light. It’s an exploration of events in a past life and a refreshing take on overcoming pain and the joy of finding love.
