It’s The Last Day in October
Inspired by a rare Blue Moon

Today’s the last day in October,
Wish it’s the last day of 2020.
Covid19 has ended lives and shorten the year;
Work-from-Home days are long like Summer,
With shortened nights as in Winter days;
The past 306 days passed by as 366 days.
After a month’s break from writing
To finish a project before the morrow,
I nearly missed the turning hues of Autumn morn.
Temperature cools with tonight’s Blue moon
To signal the coming onset of a dark Winter.
Spring is already calling
Bypassing the dark forbidding season,
Onward to victory we shall leap over the Covid19 beast
That we may all return to pre-Covid19 blest;
To forget the fashion of mask wearing
That separates intimacy with social distancing,
Corroding friendships and relationships,
Causing epidemics of mental health,
Disrupting our children’s schooling,
Destroying the bonds of social connectivity.
We shall not let Covid19 dominate
how we love
Or how we live
Or how we work
And how we play;
The choice is Covid19 or living as dead.
The year 2020 shall end today;
May tomorrow begins 2021,
A better year for all.
Tonight, I shall sleep
To wake up in 2021, I hope;
Come January after October this year,
Ending a terrible period of tribulations
And seasons of griefs and sufferings.
Look forward to 2021,
And hope for the best of post-Covid19 victory days;
What blessed joy indeed for us to enjoy
The return of endless joy and happiness
To cheer the freedom days the night shall bless.
Who know what’s around the corner of October days?
I do and I know;
Remembering the darker days I had,
Where nights lasted forever with no respite.
Tis October’s last day,
So, embrace the coming light of Spring,
Skipping over the Winter,
Bringing rains of abundant hope undeserved,
As we play the cards in our life,
Undaunting of Covid19 and all,
In remembrance of worse places in past lives
And grateful that light always cometh following the dark
To shine a new year on our new life.
On this last day of October,
Beneath the rare Blue moon,
I am grateful the year’s passing;
For tomorrow beckons
A new dawn,
A new age,
A new life.
The past has passed.
The future will not be stayed.
Tomorrow shall begin the first day of the rest of my life;
I shall rest peacefully tonight
In the safe loving embrace of the Blue Moon.
