Its Spring in Canada Are We Opened Yet
Or Somewhere in Betwixt
I can’t help but feel like the seesaw of spring is happening in our political form in Canada. While I get the message for lockdowns, I don’t get the way they’ve handled some of the issues to go along with it. As someone who’s trying to abide by my country’s laws, I see many others who won’t. You have those who travel to “walk in the park” two hours from their homes. Don’t you have parks closer to home? They come from a hot spot and converge on the local vicinities to try to live their lives. It’s unfair to the people who live here. While our local leaders don’t want to stop the tourism dollars they allow this to occur.
Then you have our government saying they’re following the medical officer’s advice. The trouble with advice is it’s contradictory between one level and the local level. So it doesn’t solve any issue.
So a total lockdown in Ontario means you can go to work and school but you can’t shop for nonessential items. This is not true, you can if you do it online. You can buy almost anything. While you can’t get haircuts or your nails done, I’m sure virtual would work.
I have to laugh when they say stay in your home area. Good luck with that puppy. First off we don’t have near the manpower to enact that order. That the throngs of people who take over areas to party and do burnouts in the middle of intersections at 2 am.
The biggest thing that gets me was how many people weren’t going to the stores and using online. A major issue in Ontario’s public education sector was creating online learning. Nope, that wasn’t wanted. It’s funny how things change. People if encouraged to be more active, it’s a chore. All I’m saying here if you curtail different things, then that’s what people want.
Then there’s the question of the vaccines. It boggles my mind when everything else takes forever to approve. I can’t believe how fast the human trials were. Now they have one that causes issues but only rarely. What? So go ahead says our government give it to everyone. So our pharmacist can give them out, but even though they’re capable of handling the better vaccine, they can’t get it. Huh?
My biggest rant is the gyms. I can’t help but think if our astute leadership was in better shape, they would allow gyms to still operate. If they were gym guys it’d be okay to be healthy. Our gym used to hold about 300 at any given time, it was down to 10 members for each hour, before our current lockdown. No one got sick. There are fewer chances for illness there than at schools or stores. Another ‘fudgalisticexpalidosis’.
I know I shouldn’t have but I did watch the series “The Stand” on Netflix. Now should I get the vaccine or not? These times are crazy, and I’m on my way there.
Yes, we’re so done, but I hear the spring thaw is on its way. So when the birds come out in May, will Canada come out to play?
I wouldn’t hold my breath. Christmas isn’t that far away.
