I got the day lady fired, ‘twas long overdue.

She didn’t give great care, just rushing things through.

This meant ten times the work, but I was unbothered.

Better it be done right — our promise kept true.

Purification is serious; one doesn’t fuck with this shit.

For this very reason, I make it my pit.

Oh, how I loved those nights.

Many can’t be trusted, you might not want to know.

These kitchens be filthy, the standards quite low.

I’ll take it all on, it is quite a show.

It’s not always about cleanliness, but the energy in the room.

A smile, a shining bright counter, creates a true kind of bloom.

From this place of unrecognized value, I begin a new world.

Shamelessly on this day, my pride is unfurled.

I experiment with being a cook, as a job it is good.

I’ll always prefer the pit, as well I should.

Who else will be grateful to receive grime and dirt?

Pleased am I to comply… until you need a dessert.

It’s called an aquatic engineer, keep me away from the food.

Though pay me enough, and I’m easily subdued.

Leave me to work; see waste disappear.

But don’t look too closely, I’m being sincere.

Magic doesn’t work, when anyone’s watching.
