It’s amazing to me, How some Kids survive their Parents
Put away your cell phones

My siblings and I didn’t realize how blessed we were. I knew we were loved, but I didn’t fully realize how fortunate we were until I started working at the bus terminals.
The bus terminal was a loud, nasty-smelling, terrible place to work. The employees were cool, I’m still friends on Social Media with several of them ten years later.
Some of them were messed up and obnoxious
A lot of the bus passengers were a pain though. The thing that scared me the most though, I was scared to death that something was going to happen to a child.
I didn’t want a child hurt or killed, and I didn’t want it to happen on my shift. It never happened, but it came close.
They lost their fear of humans because the humans fed them
There was a mated pair of pigeons that had a nest in the crossbeams under the roof of the terminal. The pair had lived there for years, raising who knows how many broods. They had no fear of humans, the bus passengers would feed them.
I had arrived at work and had started my first patrol when I saw a small child, three or for years old, follow the pigeons. The birds had gone under a bus.
If I hadn’t come around the corner when I did…..
The bus drivers would walk around their busses. checking things as an airplane pilot does. The driver had completed his check and was about to put the bus in gear when I saw the kid head under the bus.
I screamed at the kid, he ran off, and the bus pulled away seconds later. I had no idea where the kid’s mom was. I had to go back to the janitor’s closet and calm down.
Put the cell phone away and watch your kids
Parents on cell phones irritated me. I would watch as children would run all over the terminal. while their mom or dad played with their phone.
Too high to keep an eye on their kids
Parents under the influence angered me. I had to call the cops a few times because of that. A guy passed out in the men’s room. He was lying on the floor while his little boy stood next to him and cried.
I had to call the cops. They waited until the boy’s mom arrived. She took the kid home, saving him from spending the night at Family Sevices.
There were so many incidents. I could write a book about it. I’m still angry at the things I saw, and it’s been ten years since I worked there.
Final thought:
Your children are the most important things in your life. Love them and watch over them, and put the cellphone away for a minute.
