It Never Rains But It Pours. All Our Work Was Being Plagiarised.
Fun times on Medium. Keep an eye out for future cloning.
On the same day that Medium decided to tell us all they could do whatever they wanted with our work and not pay us (yes, they really did that, although they later modified the terms slightly in response to protest), another site cloned all our work. Literally entire publications. They copy-pasted our work as is, BUT didn’t add any author names or credits. Let me repeat that, entire publications were cloned. With no attribution, let alone payment.
In Dr Mehmet Yildiz’s article he mentions the odd fact that “Yes, ironically ICHI.PRO also declared copyright for Medium content. After discussion on new policies of Medium, some writers were asking about whether Medium possibly allowed our content to the ICHI.PRO.”
Here’s the original article I read which alerted me to the theft:
And, honestly, Kristi Keller as a point, it does seem like a strange coincidence:
So, the good news is, ichi.pro, the site which was stealing our work, appears to be down at the moment. The bad news, if they’ve tried it once they will probably try it again.
I suppose it is, as they say, a first world problem. If we’re not being ripped off to our online faces, we’re being ripped off behind our backs. It’s enraging and sad and pathetic, but I am tired of feeling angry about people doing the wrong thing. At least this week.
So today, I am just going to hug my greyhound and my cat (we have to keep them apart, it’s a long story which I was going to write about), tell my lovely fiance what a hunk of burning love he is (he actually is) and tell my kids and all my friends that I love them dearly.

Just for today, bugger the internet and all its woes. Thanks to Joe Luca or being the head of our cheer team.
