Israel vs Palestine: Which Side Needs Delusion Demolition?

Here we downsize the choice to Tik-Tok attention spans

This article is the third in a series for time-crunched attention spans and the geographically-challenged who can’t find or name the river or the sea in the Palestine will be free slogan.

Do long wordy articles trigger literary indigestion, but you still want more than analytical fast-food? This structured, sequential answer with visuals to these questions is for you:

At first I’ll use some evidence with text only when completely unavoidable.

Two states for two peoples: which side said yes and which said no?

“It is Israel — and the Zionist Jewish community preceding independence — that consistently offered compromise, dialogue, and a two-state solution. And it is Palestinian demagogues valuing personal power over the good of their people who have rejected these openhanded offers — in favor of endless strife and the desire that the Jewish community be completely destroyed.

But it’s not just Hamas. Palestinian leadership has sold out its people since the beginning of the last century — even as the Jews tried again and again to offer us a state. The history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict regarding a two-state solution reveals a harsh reality: Israel has consistently made genuine efforts toward peace, only to be met with rejection, treachery, and blood-curdling violence by the Palestinian side. This pattern of refusal, particularly epitomized by groups like Hamas, has been the real obstacle to peace. It’s time to acknowledge this truth bluntly. Those who claim to desire peace must confront and challenge the rejectionist elements within Palestinian society, including Hamas. We need to get rid of the Palestinian establishment who have ruled for 15 years without actually representing the Palestinian people. Only then can we hope to forge a path toward a peaceful, two-state future.”

Eid’s diagnosis agrees with Labour politician and union leader Ernest Bevin, Britain’s notoriously anti-Semitic foreign secretary, who said in February 1947 when it handed the Palestine problem to the UN:

““His majesty’s government has come to the conclusion that the conflict in the land is irreconcilable.” Jews and Arabs…each one of these groups has one top priority the thing they care about more than anything. “For the Jews, the top priority is to have a state.”….For the Arabs, the top priority is for the Jews not to have a state in any part of the land.” …..There’s no state of Israel, there are no refugees, there’s no occupation, there are no settlements. All of the things we’re told are the problem. They don’t exist.”— Dr. Einat Wilf, former Labor Party Knesset member on Ehud Barak’s and Ehud Olmert’s negotiating team.

Bevin took seriously and literally what the Arabs said, unlike what Dr. Wilf calls the “westsplainers” who explain away what Palestinians clearly say:

“to the credit of Palestinians, for a century, they have made their intentions very clear. That’s why Ernest Bevin was able to know what they wanted. But Westerners don’t want to look it in the eye.”

So let’s look it in the eye. For nearly a generation Corey Gil-Shuster’s Ask Project has posed the question in street interviews with ordinary West Bank Arabs. The answer is nearly unanimous: ALL of pre-1948 Palestine from the river (that 1/2 the protestors can’t name) to the sea is ours — indivisibly:

For 60% of Israelis “their country” is Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Iran, Gaza, once home to a Jewish community. So what she’s talking about is a big move her Arab brethren would hardly welcome:

Days after the attacks, as a Muslim woman committed to combating Islamism and a physician, I traveled at my own expense to the Gaza envelope to view the aftermath of Hamas’ butchery. I examined the cadavers of the murdered and defiled; the corpses of the decapitated and immolated. In signing Oslo, Israel let the PLO into the West Bank and Gaza in 1993, under which Arafat committed to ending terrorism. The PLO got the PA, but Israel got no peace.

When “Palestinians” tell you that religion motivates them, listen.

The 1948–49 war created 700000+ refugees on each side. Only one is unique in having refugees who inherit that status. Guess which?

Before their failed 1948 “war of extermination”, as Arab League leader Azzam Pasha, called it, about 7000000 Arabs who had fled Palestine at the behest of their leaders expected to return shortly to a Judenrein Palestine.

About an equal number of Jews from Arab states were expelled, expropriated and dispossessed of their property and resettled in Israel. Tik-tokker trigger warning: this is the one question whose answer requires text and tables with lots of numbers:

UNRWA, what’s in a name?

Refugee status spawned by defeat in the Arabs’ genocidal partition rejection war led to the creation of a supposedly temporary UN agency to aid them. Dr. Einat Wilf explains how UNRWA led to endless war:

They immediately got to work to try to undo that through repeated wars and economic boycotts and international condemnations and the refusal of the Arab refugees to ever resettle….The Arab refugees now known as the Palestinians understood that the day they will resettle is the day that the war against the Jewish state is over. So generation after generation, they refused resettlement. They hijacked an organization called UNRWA that was established temporarily to help them resettle….to make it essentially a Palestinian organization. And they were very smart about it. Initially, UNRWA was gonna be called REWA, R-E-W-A, but they insisted to have the letters U-N so that it will have this cache of international legitimacy, but it’s not. It’s a Palestinian organization completely devoted to the idea that Palestinians do not have to come to terms with the existence of the state of Israel. So they’ve created unique conventions of being refugees, generation after generation of inventing something that doesn’t exist for any other refugee group of a right of return to another sovereign state. All unique conventions for the Palestinians intended to convey one thing, that from their perspective, the war of 1948 is an open case and that they can still win it.

UNRWA gave refugee status to any Arab who had lived in mandatory Palestine for….two years minus two weeks before Israel’s creation: since June 1, 1946. The UN aid gravy train led massive numbers of local non-refugee Arabs to claim refugee status. This leads us to the next question: who’s indigenous to the land of Israel?

And where do Gazans come from? Ask the Egyptians in this 1950s propaganda film who were sent there by their post-1948 government that occupied it until the 1967 Six Day War:

Which side is indigenous to the land?

What’s built on top is not indigenous. Arab colonization of the land began in 637 AD/CE, more than 1800 years after the first data downloader.

You won’t find a “Palestinian” coin like this one.

And where did many of the Arabs in mandatory Palestine and Gaza come from? Lebanon, Syria, Transjordan, Iraq and the Egypt that PLO leader Yasser Arafat was born in:

Now let’s follow the demography of the Arab immigration boom produced by Jewish investment and employment opportunities that led to huge population increases that far outstripped those in non-Jewish areas:

The “wider issues” were a futile attempt to blunt German-sponsored revolts in the British mandatory territories of Palestine, close to the crucial Suez Canal, and oil-rich Iraq. The 1936–39 Arab revolt yielded the appeasement-driven 1939 White Paper restricting Jewish immigration to 15000/year to please this Palestinian Arab Hitler and Himmler buddy, Amin Al-Husseini:

With good reason this table puts “refugees” in quotes since nearly 30% were recent migrants who returned from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Transjordan or Iraq:

End result: the 1947–49 war triggered a population exchange in which the Arab states traded the prosperous Jewish communities they expelled and expropriated for Arab migrants who had either followed the jobs offered by the British army that replaced the Ottoman Turks in 1917–18 or during the mandate period’s economic boom produced by Jewish agribusiness and the port of Haifa.

To follow migration patterns, follow the money….the one time the stereotypes about Jews and money were right.

Which side believes in and practices apartheid?

The Muslim Bedouin soldier above was just killed in Gaza by his co-religionists while defending the state that gave him more democratic rights than any Muslim between Morocco and Pakistan has ever had.

• Israeli Arab political leader Mansour Abbas, the Bedouin who gave his life defending Israel, Sophia Khalifa, or….
• Yahya Sinwar, Khaled Meshal, Ismail Haniyeh, Fathi Hammad, Ghazi Hamad, Sheikh Yassin and their crew of kleptocratic Koranic literalist believers in a sadistic Islamist death cult proclaiming “we love death and martyrdom more than you love life.”

Your choice, because….

There are theocratic fanatics on the Israeli side too. But there’s a vast asymmetry between the influence wielded by Jewish biblical literalists and their counterparts who rule with totalitarian force on the Palestinian side. Next we’ll compare the two and the poisonous symbiosis between them.
