Is Your Own “Big Game" Story Waiting To Be Written?
Consider the events you really care about
There’s a big American football game coming up soon, in February, involving the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. I’m cheering for the California team but don’t hold it against me.
But what if you don’t like football? Well, that’s perfectly fine.
There will be many thousands of people writing stories and articles about this very important bowl game, pitting the conference champions against each other.
Because of this grand media coverage, it could be difficult for you to get many views or reads if your content is about this topic.
That is why you should write about your own “big game,” and that would be a topic or event that you really care about.
Your “Big Game"
What could you write about that would be the equivalent of a big game but that doesn’t involve football?
Here are some ideas:
- Which dog in your household will make you smile the quickest?
- What television show will get the most of your viewing time?
- Which discount stores will get your first dollar on the weekend?
- Who will get you to laugh first?
- How many birds will you count in the garden?
These are just general ideas. A “big game" for one person might be completely different for another person. That’s what makes life so interesting.
You can pick your favorite things or those topics that are on your mind a lot.
For example:
- Why am I not able to sleep at night? It’s probably too much caffeine and not enough exercise.
- How are insurance rates skyrocketing? Well, it’s probably something to do with the insane prices of brand new vehicles.
- How can I win a jackpot? Well, I think random luck is a factor so I will try to beckon some of that to me.
Instead of writing about football, consider this an opportunity for you to create counter-programming for your content. Pick other audiences and you may be surprised at the success of the stories that you write for them this year.
