Is This How We Do It?
A Poem
Is that how we do it? Moving through life, Wanting More, more, more. Collecting trinkets, toys, Tickets on yourself, Trashing, thrashing Natural spaces, Places that bring Life, Joy, Peace, Oxygen, To this tiny, Little, Planet.
Is this how we do it? Angry at ourselves, Wanting Change, choice, chances. Collecting self-hatred, insults, Wearing them, Like armor, padding, A suit to keep us safe, From a toxic world, Of words, Images, Poisons.
Is this how we do it? Electing our puppets, Wanting Power, perjury, pennies, Showering us with Lies, disinformation, Deception, deceit. False-promises, self-admiration, A spoonful of slander. Trading words For inaction As our tiny Little Planet Burns, turns, burns Weeping.
Is this how we do it?
