Is There Still Time To Stop The Fighting and War?

It has started

Blood has already been shed

People around the world are alarmed at the actions of Russia toward Ukraine. There are demonstrations for peace in many cities. There are talks and telegrams to try and get the nonsense to end before it gets worse. People would like peaceful negotiations instead of war. Almost no one wants war, but apparently some do.

Don’t they realize the casualties that come from war? Don’t they care that innocent people will be killed and maimed. Don’t they care that the military personnel will be in danger as they are put in harm’s way?

The perpetrators must not plan to kill innocent children and teenagers who are simply going about their daily life, but that is happening in Ukraine. Regular activities of life cannot continue.

Mstyslav Chernov wrote for the Associated Press about “Father mourns son after shelling on Ukraine soccer field.” Chernov wrote:

MARIUPOL, Ukraine (AP) — The surgeons leaving the operating room don’t make eye contact. One of them holds up his hands. Another looks down, defeated. It’s then that the father waiting at the doorway grabs his forehead, tears welling, and turns away, a wail about to escape his throat.

The man, identified only as Serhii, enters the room and finds his 16-year-old son, Iliya, is still and draped by a blood-stained sheet.

Serhii drops down, hugs Iliya’s lifeless head and convulses with grief.

Iliya was fatally wounded Wednesday while playing soccer in Mariupol when shelling started amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The explosive hit the soccer field near a school in the Azov Sea city.

The people at the school obviously did not expect an invasion. They were allowing their young people to play soccer. They could not have known that it would be dangerous in that area at that time.

There is a battle going on in the region. It should not be happening. There is no logical reason for war, but certain people want power and control over others.

There was hope that the war could be stopped before it started. That did not happen, but people in leadership around the world are trying. Is there still time to stop it? We can only hope and pray that it will end before more disasters happen.

Peace should reign in the world, but hate and contention are rampant.
